Thayer Design Build is growing, and we're looking for a carpenter and a project manager ( two openings ) who wants to help homeowners in Corvallis, Albany, Philomath, and across the mid-Willamette Valley love their homes again. We want someone who is passionate about the positive impact they could make in the lives of those we serve. About the Carpenter Role You'll perform the physical carpentry work on assigned projects and be a core part of delivering beautiful finished spaces.
Your day-to-day work includes:
Framing ( this is essential- please do not apply unless you have framing experience ) such as modifying headers, adding or moving walls, and installing blocking Site protection, demolition, and material delivery Interacting respectfully and communicating clearly with subcontractors, team members, and homeowners. Finish carpentry and detail-oriented tasks such as installing trim, cabinetry, pocket doors, appliances, and millwork. Maintaining a clean, safe, professional job site. This role is designed for someone who excels in delivering excellence on a residential job site, is responsible with their time, and can stick to deadlines and assigned work. About the Project Manager Role For Management, you would: Collaborate with the design team on pre-construction and planning Create material takeoffs Manage the client relationship with care Manage the job schedule Manage your trade partners; verify the accuracy of work Manage the carpenters who report to you Manage the overall quality of the product (QC) Understand building code and best practices to ensure quality construction Use a computer, tablet, and various software programs when needed When it comes to the Field, you would: Potential to be on your feet for 8-10 hours a day Lift over 50 lbs, climb, push, pull, crawl, etc. Perform demo, rough carpentry, and finish carpentry if needed Maintain safety on the job at all times Maintain a clean and organized jobsite and vehicle Install site protection, as needed Who Thrives Here We're looking for someone who brings: A team-first mindset Pride in craftsmanship and an eye for detail A desire to continually improve Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with clients The ability to stay organized, anticipate needs, and solve problems proactively Self-starter with minimal oversight needed Qualification Requirements 3+ years in residential carpentry Excellent rough and finish carpentry skills Framing experience ( this is essential- please do not apply unless you have framing experience ) Solid work history with references Your own carpentry tools Valid driver's license, insurance, and clean driving record Ability to perform physical work for 8+ hours, including lifting 70+ lbs.
