Commercial Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on performing a wide range of commercial carpentry tasks on active construction sites, including framing, metal stud work, drywall, trim, and hardware installation. You will assist with concrete work and structural builds, read and interpret blueprints and project specifications, and use hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Working closely with foremen and crew members, you help keep projects on schedule in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality workmanship on commercial construction projects. Responsibilities Perform commercial carpentry tasks such as framing, metal stud work, drywall installation, finish carpentry, trim work, exterior trim, and chip-in stud work. Assist with concrete construction and structural builds on active commercial job sites. Install commercial doors, hardware, and related components according to project specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and project drawings to plan and execute work accurately. Utilize a variety of hand tools and power tools safely, efficiently, and in accordance with OSHA safety standards. Support overall job site operations by helping to keep projects on schedule in a fast-paced environment. Collaborate with foremen and crew members to complete high-quality work as part of a team-driven environment. Follow OSHA safety practices and site safety protocols to maintain a safe work area. Use basic computer skills for time tracking, communication, and simple documentation related to project tasks. Travel to commercial job sites within the designated region and arrive reliably and on time for scheduled shifts. Essential Skills Experience in commercial carpentry; strong residential carpentry experience may also be considered. Proficiency in framing with wood and/or metal studs. Working knowledge of concrete construction methods. Ability to perform hardware installation, including commercial doors and related components. Skilled use of hand tools and power tools for carpentry and construction tasks. Ability to read and understand blueprints, layouts, and project drawings. Understanding of OSHA safety practices and ability to apply them on job sites. Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. Basic computer skills for time tracking, communication, and simple documentation. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for travel to job sites. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in commercial construction environments, including exterior trim and finish carpentry. Comfort working with both metal stud and wood framing systems. Familiarity with commercial hardware installation and commercial doors. Ability to collaborate with foremen and crew members and communicate clearly on site. Attention to detail in measuring, cutting, and installing materials to meet project specifications. Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Work Environment Work is performed on commercial construction job sites within approximately a 60-mile radius of Kingston, PA. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with no weekend or night shifts. You work in active construction environments, using a variety of hand and power tools, and following OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety protocols. The role involves travel between job sites, collaboration with foremen and crew members, and participation in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting where reliability, safety, and quality workmanship are highly valued. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kingston, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
