General Laborer - Concrete and Carpentry Job Description This role supports a busy construction production environment by preparing molds, placing reinforcement, and pouring and finishing concrete products. You will work with hand tools, tape measures, wood and steel forms, and reinforcement steel to create high-quality concrete pieces while maintaining a strong focus on safety and teamwork. Responsibilities Use a tape measure accurately to lay out and measure materials for production tasks. Use hand tools to perform various carpentry and assembly tasks related to concrete forms. Prepare wood and steel molds for concrete pours, ensuring they are clean, assembled, and ready for use. Place and secure steel rebar and other reinforcement materials in forms according to specifications. Pour concrete into molds and perform initial finishing to achieve the required surface quality. Strip and clean concrete forms and finished pieces after curing to prepare them for reuse. Assemble and disassemble casting forms on the production floor as needed for different products. Assist in placing and positioning reinforcement steel accurately within the forms. Apply final finishes, both rough and fine, to poured concrete products to meet quality standards. Remove cured concrete pieces from forms carefully to avoid damage and defects. Patch and repair any blemishes or imperfections on finished concrete pieces as necessary. Perform general clean-up duties in the work area during and at the end of the shift to maintain a safe and organized environment. Essential Skills 3+ years of carpentry experience, including framing and formwork. 1+ years of concrete experience in a construction or production environment. Proficiency with carpentry tools and techniques, including framing and woodworking. Experience working with concrete, including pouring, finishing, and patching. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for layout and measurement. Comfort working with rebar and reinforcement steel in forms. Safety-oriented mindset with consistent adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools, equipment, and machinery. Ability to kneel, bend, twist, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in construction, carpentry, or concrete production. Experience working in a framework or form-setting environment. Ability to work effectively as part of a crew of 5-7 laborers. Strong attention to detail when measuring, assembling forms, and finishing concrete. Work Environment This is a first-shift role starting at 5:30 a.m. and working until production is complete, typically 9-11 hours per day and averaging 50-55 hours per week. The work takes place in a construction-style production environment that can be dirty and dusty, with hot conditions in the summer and cold conditions in the winter. The facility is loud due to equipment and machine operations, and you will work closely with a crew of approximately 5-7 laborers.
