HANDS-ON
experienced Lead Carpenter / Deck Builder to join our growing Decking Division. This position is responsible for leading deck construction projects from start to finish, including reading blueprints, performing advanced carpentry work, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Responsibilities Project Execution Construct and build custom decks, pergolas, railings, pavilions, and other outdoor structures from start to finish. Perform all phases of construction, including layout, excavation, framing, decking, railing installation, and finishing work. Communicate professionally with homeowners and customers. Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and construction drawings. Ensure projects meet company quality standards and local building codes. Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment. Crew Leadership Lead, train, and mentor crew members on job sites. Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining productivity and quality standards. Promote teamwork and a positive work environment. Quality Control Ensure all work meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and local building codes. Conduct inspections throughout the construction process to maintain workmanship quality. Site Management Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Manage material usage, equipment, and tool maintenance. Client Relations Serve as the primary on-site representative of Security Fence Company. Communicate professionally with homeowners and customers. Provide project updates and address questions or concerns. Scheduling & Coordination Work closely with project managers to keep projects on schedule. Assist with inspections and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Qualifications & Skills 5+ years of rough and finish carpentry experience, with significant deck-building experience preferred. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Excellent work ethic and attention to detail. Proven leadership experience supervising crews and coordinating projects. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to operate power tools, work outside, and operate construction equipment safely. Valid and clean driver's license required. Physical Requirements Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor environments. Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working at heights. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50+ pounds. Ability to work in varied weather conditions. Work Environment Outdoor construction sites in all seasons. Exposure to construction-related hazards, including dust, noise, power tools, and elevated work areas. Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and enforced.
