Job Overview T&S Construction is a small, owner-operated general contracting business specializing in residential construction, framing, interior carpentry, and exterior finishes. We're looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our crew. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with strong carpentry skills who takes pride in their workmanship and can confidently work through a project with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has experience in residential construction, understands the importance of quality and efficiency, and can take ownership of their work from start to finish. You'll work closely with the owner on a variety of projects, including new construction, remodels, framing, trim, and exterior work. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable problem-solving in the field, and capable of helping keep projects moving forward. Responsibilities Lead and complete carpentry work on residential construction and remodeling projects Perform framing, finish carpentry, trim, and exterior construction Read and interpret plans, measurements, and project details Work independently while maintaining communication with the owner Take ownership of assigned portions of a project and ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard Use hand and power tools safely and effectively Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction Help coordinate day-to-day work and keep projects progressing on schedule Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site Assist with material planning, measurements, and job-site preparation as needed Set a positive example for other crew members through quality workmanship, reliability, and professionalism Qualifications Several years of residential carpentry/construction experience Strong skills in framing, finish carpentry, and general residential construction Ability to work independently and confidently make decisions in the field Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, tools, and safety practices Ability to read plans and accurately measure and lay out work Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship Reliable, punctual, and professional Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a small, hardworking team This version makes the position feel like "experienced carpenter who can take ownership and lead the work" rather than someone who is primarily assisting the contractor.
