Job Description

Job description Commercial Construction Foreman & Carpenter Cheney Brothers Construction is an Ogden based commercial construction company and we are looking for an experienced foreman with some carpenter experience/knowledge to join our team! Travel is required, transportation and lodging provided. CBC has been in the construction industry for over 40 years and is licensed in eleven states. Valid driver's license required.
Responsibilities:
Supervision/Personnel Supervises and schedules labor employees and/or other on-site company personnel in person. Assumes responsibility for productivity of scope, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project. Accompanies any injured CBC employee to the care facility, and follows up with them on any additional visits/care. Acts as a mentor and encourages subordinate growth and development. Seeks to build morale of all team members by positive reinforcement, feedback, etc. Follows company hiring and dismissal procedures in accordance with CBC's corporate values and legal requirements. Oversees all employee time cards; ensures employee time is turned in and is accurate. Mentors and encourages growth and development, and builds the morale of all team members through positive reinforcement, feedback, etc. Project Management Ensures that all on-site workers comply with project procedures, safety requirements, work rules, etc. Documents all violations, notifies project management, and recommends corrective actions. Ensures everyone is working using the most current drawings. Inputs all correspondence into the drawings, request for information (RFI), architectural supplement instructions, etc. Ensures that the project site and construction activities are being constantly documented in writing and in photos. Ensures "job closeout" procedures are followed, including the punch list, and verifies its completion. Attends required trainings. Coordinates with project team to create RFIs, check status of all the answers to ensure they have been incorporated into the project, and distribute to all subcontractors and keep records accurate. Coordinates with project team to ensure shop drawings are compliant with contract documents and other trade work. Assists the project manager in acquiring information for "Project Status Report." Manages rental and CBC equipment by ensuring proper maintenance, quick return to vendor, regular inventory, and proper use. Collects and ensures daily reports and weekly safety reports are complete and accurate. Becomes familiar with and utilizes the designated project control/management software. Uses appropriate technical information (e.g., electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.) in performing job functions. Ensures all CBC policies and procedures are being implemented and followed by all people on the jobsite. Schedule Management Coordinates and directs all subcontractor and vendor deliveries to ensure timeliness and efficient placement on site. Ensures that the project is being constructed according to the main schedule and that the milestone dates are being achieved. Identifies schedule risks and plans of action, and keeps project manager up-to-date on risk exposures. Assists the project manager in creating a detailed construction schedule. Updates schedule on a monthly basis, and makes certain the owner and architect understand it. Identifies active and potential delays to the project and assures that these delays are being documented and communicated to the project team. Creates a plan for project delays. Subcontractor Relations Verifies to ensure subcontractor completes the assigned scope of work. Gives input, when requested, to the project manager in the creations and/or modification of accurate subcontract agreements or purchase orders. Reads the contracts to know subcontractors' contractual obligations. Negotiates with subcontractors to eliminate back charges. Ensures subcontractors' prices are accurate and fair and that there is no overbilling. Keeps records of project documents and ensures subcontractors keep "as-built" drawings up-to-date. Job/Site Setup Works closely with city officials in requesting and coordinating applicable inspections, including starting dialogue with officials from day one. When layout crew performs initial layout, the superintendent confirms that building and/or site is laid out correctly. Mobilizes and secures the site; also puts in place safety measures associated with the signage. Oversees the commissioning and start-up of project systems. Ensures a storm water program policy plan and dust control is in place at the onset of each project, that the notice of intent has been filed (coordinate with the project manager), and that the plan is maintained. Visits each project site prior to the commencement of construction, and video records all areas that might by impacted by the construction. Manages all inspections and secures building occupancy certificates. Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures, and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal building codes. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively lead and manage teams Possess strong computer skills; proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook. 3-5 years of Commercial experience preferred Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
