Job Description
Golden Rule Builders is northern Virginia's builder of choice for new home construction, kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement remodeling, home additions, and more. To continue our great work with clients, we need a Skilled Carpenter to work in our Small Projects/Home Services Division. This position works directly under the Small Projects Division Manager, primarily focusing on production work in the field and supporting the Division Manager in completing a wide range of residential repair and maintenance projects.
Essential Job Duties Hands On Production Work:
Complete a range of home services, including but not limited to: Trim carpentry and light framing Drywall repair and patching Interior/exterior painting and caulking Tile repairs Door and window installation Basic plumbing and electrical Work efficiently to meet set timelines and budgets Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsiteProject Support:
Work alongside Division Manager on active jobsites Assist with material handling, setup, and daily task execution Follow project scope and direction provided by Division manager Communicate any issues, delays, or scope concerns promptlyQuality and Craftsmanship:
Deliver high-quality work that meets GRB Standards of Quality Take ownership of your work and correct deficiencies when needed Have attention to detail in finishes and overall presentationClient Interaction:
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients when Division Manager is not onsite Communicate daily progress, next steps, and minor schedule updates Ensure clients feel informed, comfortable, and respected in their home. Escalate any change in scope, pricing, or concerns to the Division Manager promptly. Represent GRB with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity at all times.Team Player:
Support a positive, respectful, and professional jobsite environment. Be reliable, punctual, and ready to contribute each day. Continue developing skills across multiple trades. Goals & Objectives - "What is Success?" Represent GRB in a positive and professional manner to clients, trade partners, and the community. Deliver a "WOW" experience to every client by exceeding expectations. Consistently meet or beat project schedules. Reporting Relationships Reports directly to the Small Projects Division Manager. This position does not have any direct reports. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Experience in residential construction, handyman work, or similar trades Working knowledge of multiple trades (carpentry, drywall, painting, etc.) Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clients. Ability to follow directions while also working independently. High attention to detail and pride in workmanship Physical Ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis including: Lifting heavy objects Walking and standing for long periods of time Lift, push, pull, or carry objects Use abdominal and lower back muscle to provide support over time without fatigue Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. Ability to quickly move arms and legs Excellent stamina Other Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record (no more than 3 moving violations in the last 5 years and no reckless driving violations in the last five years). Salary & Benefits This is a full-time hourly position with regular hours Monday thru Friday. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required. Pay rate is based on experience. A competitive benefits package is provided, included holiday pay, vacation pay (up to 19 days annually with full tenure), health insurance, dental insurance, and a retirement plan.
