Job Title:
Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on installing tongue and groove wood paneling on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces, ensuring a precise fit and a clean, finished appearance. You will measure, cut, and fasten wood materials, align boards to create tight, seamless joints, and maintain proper spacing for expansion. You work from plans or layouts, use a variety of hand and power tools, and collaborate with other trades to deliver high-quality finish carpentry in a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities Install tongue and groove wood paneling on walls, ceilings, and other designated surfaces with a high level of accuracy and craftsmanship. Measure, mark, and cut boards to the correct dimensions, ensuring proper fit and alignment throughout the installation. Fasten wood materials securely using appropriate methods and tools, including nail guns and other fastening systems. Align boards to create tight, seamless joints and maintain consistent spacing to allow for proper expansion and contraction. Use hand and power tools, such as saws, nail guns, and layout tools, safely and effectively to complete finish carpentry tasks. Read and interpret basic plans, blueprints, or layout instructions to plan work and complete projects efficiently. Collaborate with other trades and team members on-site to coordinate tasks and maintain project timelines. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, following site safety practices and company standards. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and make adjustments or corrections as needed. Support related construction activities such as rough carpentry, framing, and coordination with drywall or concrete work when required. Essential Skills Proven carpentry experience with a focus on finish work and tongue and groove wood paneling. Strong construction experience, including familiarity with commercial construction environments. Ability to measure, cut, and install tongue and groove boards with close attention to detail, fit, and alignment. Proficiency with hand and power tools, including saws, nail guns, tape measures, and layout tools. Ability to read and work from basic plans, blueprints, or layout instructions. Experience in rough carpentry, framing, and working around concrete and drywall installations. Capability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while meeting quality and productivity expectations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on finish carpentry projects in commercial or institutional buildings. Comfort collaborating with multiple trades on active construction sites. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to site conditions and layout changes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mattawa, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
