Job Description
Highgate Senior Living is a company that designs, builds, owns, and operates senior housing in WA, NV, MT, AZ, and CA. We are looking for a Maser Carpenter with any combination of education and experience in a related construction role that provides the required knowledge, skills & abilities to join our team. This position is full-time and includes coordination/planning of both small and large renovation and repair projects and traveling out of state to our various locations to oversee and complete these projects. The successful candidate will be an organized and detail-oriented individual with a positive and self-motivated attitude. You must have strong communication and computer skills. Problem solving and the ability to oversee and perform all aspects of the renovation/repair process is essential. Excellent time management skills are important along with relationship building, persistence, flexibility, and adaptability.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Self-perform and oversite of activities of other trades for all Highgate Senior Living communities' renovation and repair projects. Position reports to the Vice President of Construction and on occasion to Director of Interior Design & Project Purchasing.SKILLS:
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to review entire project and understand the budgetary information and scheduling of the sequence of work to minimize impact to our occupied communities.
- Ability to communicate well with various trades such as mechanical & electrical
- Ability to track, receive and record/report shipments of goods for multiple projects
- Select and evaluate materials for defects
- Installation of cabinets, counters, doors, trim, windows, roofing, and minor plumbing & electrical fixtures as required.
- Drywall installation and repair including texturing and painting.
- Must have the experience to self-perform the work.
- Follow all code requirements in all projects
- Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 80 pounds
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong negotiation skills
- Computer skills including MS Word and Excel
- Team player with ability to develop strong working relationships along with customer service focus
- Ability to adapt/respond quickly to changing requirements and effectively balance priorities to meet deadlines
- Ability to read architectural/construction/design layout drawings
EXPERIENCE
- Any combination of education and experience in a related construction role that provides the required knowledge, skills & abilities may be accepted.
- A valid driver's license is required and reliable transportation with ability to haul tools and or materials.
- Experience with plumbing and electrical systems required
- Experience with rough & finish carpentry required
- Excellent facility with common hand and power tools required
- Familiarity with apartment unit layouts and infrastructures required
- Experience with common building materials such as lumber grades and countertop materials, etc. required
- Experience Assisted Living / Healthcare Facilities is a bonus but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS 1
- At least 21 years of age 2
- At least four (4) years' experience in construction related field 3
- TB testing prior to start 4
- Ability to pass criminal record/background check 5
- Valid driver's license with a qualifying driver abstract 6
- Be efficient and exercise good time management skills 7
- Must be able to work well independently with little oversight 8
- Must be able to travel out of state at least 80% of the time.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS 1
- Sit and stand for up to eight hours per day. 2
- Walk up to eight hours per day. Must have the ability to safely run or walk rapidly. 3
- Continuous lifting up to 10 pounds. 4
- Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. 5
- Occasional lifting of over 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds. 6
- Push and pull with up to 50 pounds of force. 7
- Frequent bending and twisting at waist; frequent grasping. 8
- Frequent reaching above or below should heights, light fixtures, shelving, etc. 9
- May have exposure to infections, odors, and hazards. 10
- Weekends may be required.

$80,000.00- $90,000.
