Rough Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on rough carpentry for a commercial construction project, with primary responsibilities in framing, some finish work, and general labor. You will work extensively with hand and power tools to measure, cut, and assemble materials for a new church remodel project in downtown Appleton. Responsibilities Perform rough carpentry work on a commercial construction site, focusing on framing and related tasks. Support finish carpentry activities as needed, including trim and detailed woodwork to complete the project. Carry out general labor duties on the construction site, such as material handling, site cleanup, and assisting other trades. Use hand tools daily, including tape measures, hammers, and hand saws, to measure, mark, and cut materials accurately. Operate power tools such as power drills, nail guns, and reciprocating saws to cut and fasten materials prior to framing. Assist with demolition work on the construction site, including removing existing structures and materials safely and efficiently. Follow construction plans and directions from site leadership to ensure work meets project specifications and quality standards. Work safely on an active construction site, using appropriate personal protective equipment and following all safety guidelines. Collaborate with a small crew and work closely with site leadership to complete tasks and meet project timelines. Occasionally assist with concrete-related tasks, such as helping with sidewalk pours, when required. Essential Skills At least 6 months of experience framing new construction projects. At least 6 months of experience using power tools such as power drills, reciprocating saws, and nail guns. At least 6 months of demolition experience on a construction site. Ability to perform rough carpentry, including measuring, cutting, and assembling framing materials. Proficiency with hand tools, including tape measures, hand saws, and basic carpentry tools. Comfort working in a commercial construction environment with active power tool use and varying site conditions. Capability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors. Additional Skills & Qualifications At least 6 months of concrete experience, including assisting with pouring sidewalks or similar work, is a plus. Experience with finish carpentry is highly desirable and increases versatility on the job site. Background in demolition work, showing a willingness to take on dirty and physically demanding tasks. Experience with welding or steel stud framing, providing a broader understanding of on-site construction activities. Experience in landscaping or farm work, demonstrating comfort with outdoor, physically intensive jobs. Ability to travel to additional projects across the state for ongoing work after the current project concludes. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn from experienced site leadership. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Appleton, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
