Company Description Bass Concrete, a Nabholz company, is a leading self-performing concrete contractor specializing in commercial and industrial concrete construction across Arkansas and surrounding states. Job Summary:
The Commercial Concrete Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and operations of commercial concrete construction projects. This role involves coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and crews to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. The successful candidate will bring expertise in concrete work, proven leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to fostering a safe, productive work environment.Responsibilities:
1.Project Oversight:
Direct and oversee concrete construction activities, including layout, formwork, reinforcing, pouring, curing, and finishing. Ensure all work is executed according to project specifications, blueprints, and company quality standards. Manage labor, equipment, and material resources effectively to maintain efficiency and productivity on-site. Coordinate with project managers to develop and execute project schedules, milestones, and timelines. 2.Team Leadership and Coordination:
Supervise and mentor field crews, subcontractors, and labor teams, fostering a collaborative, positive work environment. Conduct daily and weekly site meetings with crews to discuss safety protocols, project updates, and resolve any issues. Ensure that team members are properly trained and understand project requirements, safety protocols, and quality expectations. Identify and address performance issues among team members; provide constructive feedback and guidance to improve performance. 3.Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing all safety standards, OSHA guidelines, and company protocols. Conduct regular on-site safety inspections and enforce corrective actions as necessary. Investigate, document, and report any job site incidents or accidents promptly, implementing preventative measures as needed. Ensure all workers are equipped with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety policies. 4.Scheduling and Budgeting:
Monitor and track project timelines to ensure work is completed on schedule, communicating to make adjustments as necessary to maintain progress. Control project costs by managing labor hours, minimizing material waste, and optimizing equipment usage. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, including budget status and resource allocation updates. 5.Quality Control:
Conduct regular quality inspections of all concrete work, ensuring it meets company standards and client specifications. Address any quality issues promptly and coordinate corrective actions with the project manager and crew members. Maintain thorough documentation of all quality control checks, inspections, and corrective actions taken. 6.Communication and Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other departments to align on project goals, specifications, and timelines. Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, suppliers, and site visitors, ensuring clear and consistent communication. Proactively identify and resolve potential conflicts or challenges in the project's execution. Update clients and stakeholders on project status, addressing any questions or concerns they may have. 7.Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and organized records of daily field activities, including time sheets, material receipts, and incident reports. Submit timely reports on project status, progress, and any deviations from the plan to management and clients.Position Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial concrete construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Extensive knowledge of concrete construction methods, techniques, and materials. Proficiency in reading blueprints, project plans, and specifications. Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety best practices. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work well under pressure. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and make quick, sound decisions. Proficient in construction management software such as Procore, FieldWire, etc.Physical Requirements:
This position requires work on active construction sites, where exposure to varying weather conditions and physical activity is common. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet project deadlines Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities related to construction work, such as walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Ability to work in varying weather conditions and on uneven surfaces. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.Benefits:
