$125,000-$150,000 per year Job Summary A well-established ready-mix concrete producer is seeking an experienced Director of Quality Control to lead its concrete quality-control department in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This position is ideal for an Industrial Engineer, Civil Engineer, or senior concrete quality professional with extensive experience in ready-mix or precast concrete operations. The Director will oversee concrete quality from production through field performance, manage mix-design development, ensure compliance with applicable standards, and supervise the quality-control team. Candidates must have hands-on knowledge of concrete production, batching, testing, mix designs, and quality troubleshooting. General construction quality experience without direct concrete-production experience will not be sufficient for this position. Key Responsibilities Direct and oversee quality-control operations for ready-mix concrete production and field performance. Review project plans, specifications, and customer requirements. Recommend, develop, test, submit, and maintain concrete mix designs. Conduct and evaluate trial batches to ensure mix performance and compliance. Monitor batching procedures, raw materials, production consistency, and finished concrete quality. Analyze slump, air content, temperature, compressive-strength, aggregate, and other concrete test results. Ensure testing and production procedures comply with ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, DOT, FDOT, and internal quality standards. Investigate rejected loads, strength failures, material inconsistencies, and customer quality complaints. Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate laboratory testing, equipment calibration, documentation, and quality audits. Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate Quality Control Technicians. Work closely with plant operations, dispatch, sales, customers, contractors, laboratories, and field personnel. Maintain accurate mix-design records, testing documentation, certification records, and compliance reports. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to concrete performance, consistency, cost, and durability. Promote compliance with company safety requirements and applicable OSHA and MSHA standards. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field. At least five years of quality-control experience within the concrete or construction-materials industry. Direct experience with ready-mix or precast concrete production. Demonstrated experience creating, reviewing, adjusting, and maintaining concrete mix designs. Strong knowledge of concrete batching, trial batches, aggregate testing, slump testing, air testing, and compressive-strength testing. Working knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, DOT, and FDOT requirements. Experience investigating concrete failures, rejected loads, production issues, or customer complaints. Experience supervising Quality Control Technicians or laboratory personnel. Current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification . Current or previous
