Position Overview Seylone is seeking a highly skilled and safety-certified Site Foreman with a strong background in excavation, utilities, concrete work, and shoring systems including timber shoring. This is a critical role for someone who knows how to manage a jobsite from start to finish, reading plans, coordinating crews, operating equipment when needed, and ensuring every element of the job is delivered with precision and pride. The Site Supervisor will be based in the field, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations across active projects involving trenching, utility installation, concrete flatwork, restoration, and general civil scopes. You must be confident leading crews through complex field conditions, especially around active utilities and areas requiring excavation support. A deep understanding of trench safety, engineered support systems, and timber shoring methods is essential to ensure safe and compliant execution. This role also requires the ability to guide field teams with a high level of instruction, ensuring laborers and operators fully understand the work plan, sequencing, and intent behind the drawings and/or scope of work. You will act as a technical leader in the field, translating instruction/documents into real-time direction and mentorship. Success in this role requires technical knowledge, field leadership, and common sense. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in workmanship, holds high standards, and genuinely cares about delivering quality results. Key Responsibilities Manage daily jobsite operations including excavation, grading, trenching, concrete, and utility scopes Lead the team with clear instruction, technical insight, and strong on-site presence Coordinate utility mark-outs (811), perform layout, and verify field measurements Read and interpret construction drawings and ensure work is executed accordingly Apply knowledge of shoring systems including timber shoring and engineered excavation support Operate small equipment such as mini-excavators and skid steers when needed Direct and motivate crews to maintain safety, productivity, and attention to detail Communicate with inspectors, subcontractors, clients, and internal project teams Maintain organized, safe, and compliant job sites Ensure all work is completed to spec, on schedule, and to the highest standard Skills and Qualifications Minimum seven years of experience in civil construction with strong utility, excavation, and concrete background Proficiency in reading plans and understanding construction documentation Strong knowledge of field layout, grades, and excavation safety Hands-on experience with timber shoring, trench boxes, hydraulic systems, and other support-of-excavation methods Ability to lead and instruct field crews clearly and effectively Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills NYC and NJ agency project experience preferred Must take initiative, uphold high standards, and deliver work with pride Certifications 40 Hour
