Carpentry and Concrete Estimator

Builder's Bloc Contracting is an employee-owned subcontracting company that is experiencing sustained growth and as a result, is looking for a Multi-Role Estimator. Experience in construction, preferably wood framed carpentry, foundations, and flatwork. Recent College graduate candidates with Civil Engineering or Construction Management degrees, some field experience, and willingness to work on crews as part of the training process will be considered. A strong work ethic and great people skills is a must as 40-50 hour work weeks are typical. The Estimator position serves union labor force on Residential and Commercial projects. Our Estimators are required to have strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Our office is located in Chesterfield, MO. Job sites are located throughout the St. Louis Metro Area. Compensation for this job relies heavily on bonus and commission plan based on profitability of bids won. Compensation will increase substantially above base pay based on revenue and profit of jobs bid and sold.

Job Duties:

Use digital blueprints as well as hard copies of blueprints to create accurate labor and material takeoffs per plan and specifications. Submit bid proposals to General Contractors by bid deadline. Follow up on submitted bids. Compile bid history to follow market pricing trends. Attend preconstruction meetings with field supervision and field employees, discuss budgets, project scope, overview of project inclusions and exclusions. Work with material vendors to keep pricing up to date. Assist in gathering data for billing purposes. Coordinate activities, materials procurement and other related activities with Project Manager and Field Staff. Communicate progress and prepare appropriate reports weekly.

Qualifications:

Experience in Construction. Estimating experience a plus. C Knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff or similar takeoff software. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Detailed understanding of how to read plans and specifications according to the construction of a project. Knowledge of pay items and job costing. Adhere to quality control standards to ensure customer satisfaction. Ability to initiate and maintain business relationships - including working effectively with owners, engineers, co-workers, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public.
