This is a temporary position. Experienced and skilled Concrete Finisher to join our construction team on a temporary basis for County Projects. You will be responsible for creating, finishing, and repairing concrete surfaces to meet precise, high-quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of concrete curing and excellent physical stamina.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Surface Finishing:

Smooth and shape fresh concrete surfaces using hand trowels, floats, and power trowels (panning riders).

Form Setting:

Set forms, align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, and ensure correct grade and elevation.

Concrete Application:

Direct the concrete pour, spread concrete to specific depths, and compact material to eliminate voids.

Surface Texturing:

Apply finishes including brooming, raking, or polishing to achieve desired surface textures.

Jointing and Edging:

Cut expansion joints and edge corners to prevent cracking and ensure durability.

Repair Work:

Patch voids, remove rough spots, and repair old concrete surfaces.

Quality Control:

Monitor the effects of heat, wind, and cold on curing concrete to prevent defects. Performs related work as required. (Position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed or supervised.)

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

Minimum 2+ years of experience as a concrete finisher or mason.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in using hand tools (floats, trowels) and power tools (vibrators, saws, grinders).

Physical Stamina:

Ability to lift heavy materials (50+ lbs), kneel for extended periods, and work in varied weather conditions.

Knowledge:

Strong understanding of concrete mixes, curing, and reading blueprints/specifications.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma).
