Concrete Batch Plant Operator Location:
Lubbock, Texas Position Summary Roman Stone is seeking an experienced Concrete Batch Plant Operator to support its precast concrete manufacturing operation in Lubbock, Texas. This individual will be responsible for accurately batching concrete, operating and monitoring plant equipment, maintaining consistent mix quality, and coordinating with production and quality-control personnel to keep daily operations running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate understands concrete mix designs, batching procedures, moisture adjustments, aggregate handling, and the importance of producing consistent concrete that meets project specifications. Key Responsibilities Operate computerized batching systems and related concrete-production equipment. Accurately batch cement, aggregates, water, admixtures, and other materials according to approved mix designs. Monitor aggregate moisture levels and make appropriate water adjustments. Verify batch weights, proportions, consistency, and production records. Coordinate with production and quality-control teams to ensure concrete meets required specifications before placement. Monitor slump, temperature, air content, and other quality indicators in collaboration with QC personnel. Identify and correct batching inconsistencies or equipment issues before they affect production. Maintain accurate batch tickets, material-usage records, inventory logs, and daily production reports. Track cement, aggregate, admixture, and water usage and notify management when materials need to be reordered. Inspect batch plant equipment, conveyors, bins, silos, mixers, and material-feed systems. Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on plant equipment. Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or batching-system issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety procedures, environmental requirements, and OSHA standards. Communicate clearly with plant leadership, QC technicians, maintenance personnel, and production crews. Perform additional plant or production duties as needed. Qualifications Previous experience operating a concrete batch plant is strongly preferred. Experience in precast concrete, ready-mix concrete, or a similar manufacturing environment preferred. Working knowledge of concrete mix designs, aggregates, cementitious materials, admixtures, and moisture corrections. Ability to operate computerized batching software and production controls. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow approved mix designs precisely. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Ability to accurately complete production records and perform basic calculations. Ability to communicate effectively and work closely with production and quality-control teams. Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. High school diploma or GED preferred. ACI certification or related concrete-industry training is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work on elevated platforms. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work around moving equipment. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions. $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
