Job Description

The Public Works Department is responding to the growing needs of the City as we are seeking to hire a Concrete Maintenance Technician with a focus on Heavy Equipment Operation to join our dedicated team in our Public Works Department. In addition, the role will also be responsible for the following: Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, and forklifts Drive and transport commercial vehicles and equipment Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and equipment Load, secure, and transport machinery safely between job sites Follow site plans, grade specifications, and directions from supervisors or engineers Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on equipment Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical issues Maintain safe work practices and comply with OSHA and site-specific safety rules Assist with ground crew tasks when needed, such as spotting or material handling Maintain, repair or replace damaged sidewalks, trails and pathways Maintain work order records and track program progress Construct missing segments of sidewalk or new assets as requested Assist utilities with projects impacting assets in the sidewalk or curb and gutter areas Any combination equivalent to high school diploma or equivalency and one (1) year construction or trades experience. Licenses and Certificates Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record that meets City standards. Additional licenses and certificates that may be required depending on the area in which incumbent is assigned: CDL, Class A or B; may need air brakes and/or tanker endorsement; Washington State Department of Transportation Flagging Certification; First Aid/CPR; Signs and Markings Level I certification; Pesticide Operators License; WWCPA 1 or 2 (desirable) WDS or WDM 1 (desirable) Other This class description describes the general nature of the work performed, representative duties as well as the typical qualifications needed for acceptable performance.
