Job Description

Job Summary The Carpentry Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the company's carpentry scope on assigned construction projects. This role oversees planning, scheduling, budgeting, material procurement, manpower coordination, and communication with the General Contractor to ensure carpentry work is completed safely, on time, and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards.

This is a Project Manager position. Candidates must have prior construction project management experience; carpentry experience alone will not satisfy the requirements of this role. Key Responsibilities Manage carpentry scope of work from contract award through project closeout Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and addenda related to framing, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and millwork Prepare, track, and submit monthly requisitions based on completed work in place, approved schedules of values, and contract terms. Coordinate with the General Contractor and other trades to align carpentry activities with the overall project schedule Develop and maintain carpentry work schedules, including sequencing and manpower planning Procure materials, tools, equipment, and shop drawings as required Track project costs, labor productivity, and budgets; forecast and report cost impacts Prepare, submit, and negotiate change orders related to carpentry scope Manage RFIs, submittals, and field coordination issues Oversee quality control to ensure work meets contract documents and company standards Ensure compliance with jobsite safety requirements and company safety policies Conduct jobsite meetings, coordination meetings, and progress reviews Coordinate inspections, punch list work, and final closeout documentation Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred 3-7+ years of experience managing carpentry or woodworking scopes on commercial or residential projects Strong understanding of carpentry means and methods, including framing, finishes, and architectural woodwork Experience working directly with General Contractors and other subcontractors Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar) Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Union Experience Required:
Prior experience managing union carpentry labor. Must understand collective bargaining agreements, jurisdictional requirements, labor coordination through foremen, and union work rules. Ability to plan manpower, manage productivity, and maintain positive relationships with union representatives is required. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on carpentry background or prior field supervision experience OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience with commercial interiors, multi-family, or institutional projects Key Skills & Competencies Carpentry scope and contract management Labor planning and productivity tracking Schedule coordination and sequencing Change order and cost management Quality control and attention to detail Leadership and team coordination Work Environment Combination of office and active jobsite work Frequent site visits required Occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines
