Job Description
Position Overview The Solar Farm Foreman oversees all on-site construction activities related to racking installation, module installation, site layout, trenching support, and general field operations. The Foreman will supervise crews, enforce safety policies, coordinate with project management, and track progress against goals. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong construction knowledge, communication skills, and situational awareness. Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership & Daily Operations Lead, supervise, and motivate installation crews and labor teams Assign daily tasks and ensure work is performed efficiently and correctly Conduct morning tailgate meetings and safety briefings Train new crew members on installation, tools, and site expectations Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance Construction Coordination Coordinate racking installation, module installation, and field prep activities Verify work aligns with engineered drawings, site layout, and QC standards Collaborate closely with project manager, solar technician, and subcontractors Resolve day-to-day field issues promptly and professionally Maintain accurate layout, row spacing, and elevation alignment Quality Assurance & Documentation Inspect work at each stage to ensure proper installation and structural integrity Identify deficiencies, rework needs, or deviations early Document daily progress, hours worked, crew counts, and production metrics Maintain material inventory, track deliveries, and report shortages Safety & Compliance Enforce all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements Ensure consistent use of PPE and safe tool operation Stop and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions Conduct incident reports and participate in safety audits
Qualifications Required:
3+ years of construction experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications Strong leadership, communication, and team-management skills Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain Proficiency in using levels, stringlines, tape measures, and power tools Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
Preferred:
Previous solar farm foreman or lead installer experience Experience with metal racking systems, driven posts, or ground-mount assemblies Understanding of wire management and balance-of-system components OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification Familiarity with daily reports, production tracking, or software like Procore Work Environment Active outdoor construction site Fast-paced environment with production targets Hands-on role requiring walking, lifting, bending, and supervising multiple crews Close coordination with onsite technicians, subcontractors, and management
Compensation & Schedule Pay:
$30-40/hr
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, with occasional
Saturdays Project Duration:
3-6 months Vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement may be available
