This is a traveling/project site-based position requiring onsite presence at assigned project locations throughout the Midwest. Candidates must be willing and able to travel based on project needs. Per diem will be provided for individuals located 95+ miles from the job site.ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Construction Foreman to be responsible for supervising a team of laborers and operators, and ensuring the successful completion of various civil/earthwork construction tasks.Job Functions:
Ensure that work sites are cleaned and cleared of any hazardous materials prior to the beginning of a construction project. Ensure accuracy of work orders prior to handing them out and make sure that time efficiency is taken into account. Create and monitor schedules for each worker and ensure that they have the physical and mental ability to cope. Create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement of supplies and materials. Track construction costs. Brief crew members about how daily tasks need to be carried out. Plan and organize daily work schedules to ensure timely completion of projects. Update a 3-week schedule on a weekly basis. Lead daily safety toolbox talks. Provide guidance and training to team members on proper construction techniques. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment. Ensure that all machinery and tools are available to the crew and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance. Perform inspections to ensure that the crew's performance is up to the set standards. Ensure that all materials, supplies, tools and equipment are procured in a time efficient manner. Monitor daily procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained and that schedules are being followed. Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor. Handle onsite incidents and emergencies in a proactive manner. Ensure periodic maintenance and proper storage of equipment and tools.WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
10+ years of experience in construction; operating heavy equipment and power tools Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team effectively Knowledge of use of power and hand tools, materials, and equipment used on construction sites Knowledge of excavation and backfilling methods, practices and procedures Knowledge of safety practices and procedures specific to labor work, including OSHA standards Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Equipment Operators, Laborers and all other personnel on site Must be able to read and understand construction drawings Listen to and understand information and direction verbally Listen to and understand information and direction in writing Demonstrate willingness to take on job challenges Demonstrate energy and stamina to accomplish work tasks Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and dependability Demonstrate careful attention to detail and thoroughness Ability to work with crew members Ability to travel as required Valid driver's license Ability to pass a drug screen and back ground check in compliance with federal regulation Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Tepa is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
