Founded by Harry and Betty Cummings and now led by the second and third generations of the same family, we operate from our 8-acre campus in Northfield with a second location in Avalon. We serve residential clients across Atlantic, Cape May, and Burlington counties with craftsmanship and integrity that has been our hallmark for over 70 years. We are growing and we are looking for experienced field leaders who take pride in the quality of their work and the performance of their crew. This is a role for someone who is ready to own a job site. The Role The Landscape Construction Foreman is the on-site leader of a Bayview construction crew. Reporting to the Construction Manager, this role is responsible for the daily execution of landscape and hardscape installation projects — leading crew members, managing the job site, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the client's expectations. This is a working Foreman position: you lead by doing and your crew follows your example. What You Will Do Crew Leadership & Job Site Management Lead a construction crew of 2 to 5 field employees; assign tasks clearly, set the daily pace, and hold the crew accountable to production targets and quality standards. Conduct a pre-job site review before work begins each day; confirm scope, layout, materials, and safety requirements before mobilizing the crew. Set up the truck daily with all supplies and equipment needed to complete the day's work. Meet vendors, material suppliers, and subcontractors on site as needed; sign for and verify all deliveries. Communicate all job site challenges, scope changes, or unresolved issues to the Construction Manager promptly. Landscape & Hardscape Installation Perform and oversee the full range of landscape construction services including tree and plant installation, bed preparation, hardscape patios and walkways, retaining walls, outdoor living elements, irrigation systems, low-voltage lighting, drainage, and sod. Read, interpret, and execute all aspects of landscape plans, elevations, and specifications accurately. Operate and supervise the operation of construction equipment including skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, concrete saws, plate compactors, and augers. Follow NJ 811 call-before-you-dig protocols; ensure all mark-outs are confirmed before any digging begins. Assist with snow removal and winter service operations during the off-season. Training, Safety & Administration Train, coach, and develop crew members in the proper use of landscape equipment, tools, and installation techniques. Lead daily tailgate safety meetings; model and enforce PPE usage and all company safety procedures at all times. Utilize the BOSS Mobile App for time entry, route management, and equipment logs. Complete crew timecards, delivery sign-offs, equipment inventory, and punch lists accurately. What We Are Looking For 3 or more years of professional landscape construction experience with demonstrated knowledge of hardscape, softscape, irrigation, and drainage installation. At least 1 year of experience leading a landscape or construction crew in a Foreman or crew leader capacity. Strong working knowledge of hardscape construction including paver patios, retaining walls, natural stone, and outdoor living structures. Ability to read and interpret landscape plans, specifications, and elevations. Competence operating skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, and related construction equipment. Valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong communication skills and a natural ability to lead people, set expectations, and hold a crew accountable.
