Job Description
CoolSys, a leader in sustainable HVACR solutions across North America, is seeking a Foreman for our Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management department in the HVAC Wholesale industry. In this role, you'll oversee refrigeration installation, maintenance, and repair projects, ensuring quality, safety, and energy efficiency. You'll coordinate technicians, manage schedules and materials, and troubleshoot complex systems for commercial and industrial clients. Responsibilities Lead and supervise refrigeration installation crews on commercial and industrial construction projects. Plan and coordinate daily jobsite activities, assigning tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring quality workmanship. Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and schematics to lay out refrigeration, piping, and electrical runs. Oversee installation, brazing, soldering, piping, pressure testing, evacuation, and charging of refrigeration systems. Verify proper installation and start-up of racks, walk-in coolers/freezers, rooftop units, and associated controls. Ensure all work complies with Cool Sys quality standards, project specifications, and applicable codes and regulations. Conduct daily safety meetings, enforce OSHA and company safety policies, and perform jobsite safety inspections. Serve as primary on-site contact for project managers, general contractors, and customers, communicating project status and resolving issues. Identify and address field conflicts, coordinating with engineering and project management to implement solutions and change orders. Perform hands-on troubleshooting and commissioning to verify system performance and energy efficiency. Train, coach, and mentor junior technicians and installers, promoting technical development and performance excellence. Complete required jobsite documentation, including redlines, reports, timekeeping, and material tracking. Required Skills Commercial and industrial refrigeration installation HVACR systems knowledge (racks, walk-ins, RTUs) Blueprint and schematic reading Piping layout and installation Brazing and soldering of refrigeration lines System evacuation, charging, and pressure testing Electrical knowledge related to HVACR systems Refrigeration controls and basic programming/interface Troubleshooting and commissioning refrigeration systems Jobsite supervision and crew leadership Construction scheduling and coordination Safety management and OSHA compliance Material planning and inventory control on jobsites Documentation, reporting, and redline updates Customer and contractor communication Time management and prioritization in field environments Basic computer skills and mobile field applications
