We are expanding our network of dependable maintenance professionals who enjoy solving problems, working independently, and providing excellent service. This opportunity is especially well suited for apartment-maintenance technicians, hotel engineers, facilities workers, appliance-repair technicians, experienced handymen, retired tradespeople, and cleaners with strong maintenance skills who want flexible supplemental work. Why Contractors Work With Stork Stays Initial agreed rates between $25 and $40 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated capabilities One-hour minimum payment, even when a repair takes only a few minutes Automatic direct-deposit payments through our maintenance platforms within 24 hours after completed work is verified Clearly described assignments provided before acceptance Freedom to select assignments that fit your skills and schedule No separate estimate or bidding process for normal hourly assignments Opportunities for larger painting, fence, improvement, and turnover projects Documented work history, performance reports, and professional references Potential for increased rates and priority opportunities as the relationship develops Peak Availability Our busiest maintenance window is generally between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Availability during this period is especially valuable. Guest-impacting assignments beginning after 8:00 p.m. may be offered at a separate emergency rate. The applicable rate and task requirements will be provided before the contractor accepts the assignment. Types of Assignments Appliance diagnosis and repair are a major part of this opportunity.
Tasks may include:
Diagnosing common appliance problems Repairing refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers, ranges, microwaves, and garbage disposals within your verified capabilities Determining whether an appliance should be repaired or replaced Installing or replacing approved appliances Documenting model numbers, parts needed, and diagnostic findings Repairing broken furniture Adjusting or replacing locks and door hardware Minor plumbing and electrical repairs within the authorized scope Drywall, paint, trim, and cosmetic repairs Turnover-related maintenance Larger scheduled property-improvement projects Work involving licensing requirements or significant safety concerns is assigned according to the contractor's verified qualifications. How Assignments Work Each maintenance request includes available information about: Property location Reported problem Guest-occupancy status Requested arrival or completion window Authorized labor time Photographs or supporting information when available You decide whether to accept each assignment. Once accepted, Stork Stays and our guests count on you to honor the agreed arrival time or communicate immediately if an unexpected problem occurs. Completed assignments require clear notes and photographs through our maintenance platforms so the work can be verified and direct-deposit payment can be processed promptly. We will then send you a contractor interest form where you can provide additional information about your skills, preferred rate, service area, tools, availability, and professional experience. This is a 1099 independent-contractor opportunity designed primarily for flexible supplemental work. Assignment volume varies according to property needs. Contractors provide their own standard tools and transportation and are responsible for applicable taxes and work-related licensing requirements. Initial base rates do not exceed $40 per hour. Higher, specialty, licensed, or emergency rates may be considered based on the assignment, qualifications, and demonstrated performance. All rates and special terms are confirmed before an assignment is accepted.

How many years of maintenance or handyman experience do you have? Which types of maintenance work are you experienced with? Do you have your own reliable transportation and basic tools needed to travel between properties and complete maintenance tasks? Are you available for on-call maintenance requests when an urgent guest issue needs immediate attention? Are you available for occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday maintenance calls when needed? How quickly can you typically respond to an urgent maintenance request? Are you comfortable communicating with our team by text/app and providing updates and photos after completing a task? Are you comfortable working in short-term rental properties where maintenance issues may need to be addressed while guests are staying at the property? What is your preferred hourly rate or service-call rate?
