Onshore Shipyard | Defense / Government Contract Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Electrical Foreman to lead electrical crews on a large-scale DOD shipyard project . The ideal candidate will have strong marine/shipyard electrical experience and a proven background supervising electricians on vessel construction, repair, overhaul, or modernization projects. This position will be responsible for directing daily electrical operations, maintaining production schedules, ensuring quality and safety standards, and coordinating work with project management, engineering, QA/QC, and government personnel. Responsibilities Supervise and direct electrical crews performing shipyard electrical installation and repair. Plan daily manpower, materials, equipment, and work assignments. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, one-lines, and ship plans. Oversee installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. Supervise installation of cable tray, conduit, panels, switchgear, MCCs, distribution equipment, and shipboard electrical systems. Monitor production and ensure work is completed according to project schedules and specifications. Coordinate electrical activities with other trades, subcontractors, engineering, and project management. Inspect completed work for quality, workmanship, and compliance with project requirements. 70E, NEC, shipyard, and DOD safety requirements. Maintain daily reports, manpower records, production tracking, and material requirements. Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues and resolving field problems. Support inspections and coordinate with QA/QC and government representatives. Train, mentor, and provide direction to electricians and apprentices. Enforce safe work practices and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Requirements 7+ years of electrical experience , preferably in a marine or shipyard environment. 2+ years of supervisory or foreman experience. Shipboard electrical experience strongly preferred. Experience with Navy, Coast Guard, DOD, military, or government shipyard projects preferred. Strong knowledge of electrical installation, distribution, controls, and troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and one-line diagrams. Working knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and
NFPA 70E
requirements. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple crews and priorities in a fast-paced shipyard environment. Must be able to work safely in confined spaces, elevated areas, and industrial/shipyard environments. Must be able to pass all required DOD/project background, drug screening, and security requirements .
