Job Summary The Tree Service Ground Person supports climbing arborists by managing ground operations, rigging and running ropes, safely operating chainsaws, feeding brush into the chipper, and maintaining a secure work area.. Your efforts will directly contribute to community safety, environmental health, and the beautification of public and private spaces. Duties 1. Site Preparation & Hazard Control Set up work zones, warning signage, cones, and safety barriers. Clear brush, debris, trash, and obstacles from active work areas. Manage traffic control by acting as a flagger when working near roadways. 2. Equipment & Tool Operation Safely operate chainsaws and heavy machinery. Perform routine daily maintenance, fuel checks, and inspection of gear and power equipment. Rig, load, secure, and unload machinery and tools from transport trucks or trailers. 3. Material Handling & Support Transport heavy raw materials, soil, logs, timber, or construction supplies across job sites. Assist equipment operators, arborists, or technicians by feeding materials, staging tools, and managing lines or cables. Hook up and unhook trailers, machinery, and specialty gear. 4. Site Cleanup & Restoration Rake, sweep, and remove all remaining debris to restore site conditions post-operation. Process organic waste using chippers or hauling units. Conduct final quality and safety checks on the work perimeter before departure. Qualifications Proven outdoor work experience with a focus on horticulture, landscaping, or arboriculture. Knowledge of tree care practices including tree trimming, pruning, and removal techniques. Experience operating chainsaws, and other relevant equipment safely. Familiarity with arborist rigging techniques for complex tree dismantling tasks. Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols while assisting climbers working at heights or with heavy machinery. Strong growing experience in landscaping or arbor (the study of trees) is highly desirable.

$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
