This includes, but is not limited to, hanging signals, trenching, equipment handling, conduit installation, formwork, concrete work, and assisting electricians and operators. The Skilled Laborer plays a critical role in ensuring quality workmanship, job site safety, and project efficiency. Responsibilities Perform physical labor on construction sites Assist in the installation of conduit, wire, traffic signal components, and roadway lighting equipment Operate basic power tools and hand tools Set up and take down temporary work zones, traffic control devices, and barricades Load, unload, and distribute materials and tools across the job site Work in coordination with leads, equipment operators, and other crew members Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Operate equipment such as bucket trucks Assist in responding to emergency calls or outages as required Step in to assist other crews with underground, electrical, or general work when needed Adapt to changing project needs and help maintain overall crew momentum and productivity Help the lead track materials, time, and production Ensure all work meets local, state, and federal standards Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and supervisors Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record Basic knowledge of MUTCD, NEC, ALDOT, and applicable local codes Experience operating bucket trucks (or ability to obtain) Safety-focused with a commitment to quality workmanship Basic understanding of safety regulations and best practices Working Conditions Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments Tolerate outdoor conditions including heat, cold, and rain Stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required Overtime, weekend work, and night work may be required Typical work schedule is 10-hour days, 4 days a week (subject to change) Must be able to work and stay out of town for unknown durations to complete projects Work at heights in aerial lifts and on ladders
