ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County. A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies. The Riverside County Transportation and Land Management Agency is seeking multiple Laborers for the Transportation Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) crew in Riverside. Under close supervision, selected candidates will perform physically demanding manual labor tasks related to construction, and maintenance of County roads. Duties include routine roadside and highway cleanup along County-maintained roads, as well as cleaning and maintaining catch basins and culverts within road rights-of-way to support proper drainage and pollution control efforts. Work may also involve removing debris, assisting with minor repairs, and supporting various field operations as needed. Competitive candidates will have hands-on experience in road and highway maintenance and the ability to perform strenuous manual labor in outdoor environments. They have experience in loading and unloading equipment and materials and, using a variety of power and hand tools, such as chainsaws, wheelbarrows, and post-hole diggers. Experience operating light trucks, including safely attaching and hauling trailers, and/or operating heavy equipment such as loaders and skid steers is desirable. Meet the Team! The Transportation Department is responsible for planning, designing, funding, building, operating and maintaining all roads, bridges, and transportation facilities within the unincorporated County territory.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assists skilled craftsmen in the performance of their duties by performing unskilled or routine phases of the work. Performs heavy manual labor tasks that may require use of hand tools, power tools and/or motorized equipment which require varying degrees of manual dexterity and coordination. Performs routine janitorial duties. In a training or backup capacity, may assist in and learn the operation of trucks and light construction equipment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to : Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; perform heavy manual labor tasks; learn the tasks and skills required; carry out instructions; get along with others.License:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required.Physical/Environmental Requirements:
The Laborer works outdoors and is exposed to the inclement weather including rain, wind, and summer temperatures exceeding 115°F. This position requires performing heavy manual labor tasks, independent body mobility to stand and climb. The incumbent will be required to perform lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling hand/power tools, and general heavy materials/supplies and will require that the incumbent walk on uneven ground or wet surfaces.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
