Job Title:
General Laborer - Demolition (Commercial Construction) Job Description This role supports interior demolition activities on commercial construction projects, with an immediate focus on selective demolition for a locker room renovation and a cafeteria remodel. You will perform hands-on demolition work, remove interior finishes and non-structural elements, protect existing utilities, and help maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site while working closely with a small crew and site supervision. Responsibilities Perform selective interior demolition on commercial construction projects, including locker room and cafeteria remodels. Remove non-structural interior walls, including walls where active or existing plumbing is present. Remove interior doors, frames, and associated hardware in accordance with project plans. Demolish and remove floor finishes such as tile, concrete, and other materials using hand tools and basic demolition equipment. Seal off work areas to control dust and protect adjacent spaces, fixtures, and finishes. Work carefully around existing plumbing lines, drains, and other utilities to avoid damage. Load, remove, and dispose of demolition debris in compliance with site requirements and procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each shift. Follow all job site safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Take direction from the foreman or site supervisor and complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately. Collaborate with a crew of laborers and supervision to meet project schedules and quality standards. Essential Skills 1-3 years of experience as a demolition laborer or concrete laborer on construction projects. Hands-on experience with interior demolition tasks, including wall, door, and floor removal. Ability to use hand tools and basic demolition tools safely and effectively for concrete and finish removal. Understanding of working safely around existing plumbing, drains, and utilities during demolition. Strong awareness of job site safety procedures and consistent use of required PPE. Valid driver's license. Ability to follow directions from a foreman or site supervisor and work as part of a small crew. Capability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting, carrying debris, and standing for extended periods. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience on commercial construction projects, particularly remodels and renovations. Experience in general labor, construction labor, or concrete work. Ability to maintain an organized work area and manage debris efficiently. Reliability and punctuality in adhering to scheduled work hours. Effective communication with supervisors and crew members to coordinate tasks and safety. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place on active commercial construction sites, including a locker room remodel in Clovis, New Mexico, and a cafeteria remodel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. You will work as part of a crew of four laborers with one on-site supervisor. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed, averaging around 40 hours per week. While working away from home, hotel accommodations are provided and a daily allowance of $35 is paid for meals and incidentals. The environment is physically demanding and may involve dust, noise, and debris typical of demolition work, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures and proper use of PPE at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Commerce City, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
