The Apprentice/Laborer (Seasonal) supports our team by assisting licensed electricians and plumbers with basic installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks. This position is ideal for those seeking hands-on experience in the trades, particularly electrical and plumbing, under the guidance and supervision of experienced professionals. This is a temporary, seasonal role.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist licensed electricians and plumbers with installations, repairs, and general maintenance. Perform basic labor tasks such as carrying materials, using hand and power tools, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Follow instructions and safety protocols to ensure safe working conditions at all times. Learn and apply proper procedures for basic plumbing and electrical work under supervision. Help maintain organization and tidiness in the work area. Contribute to high-quality, consistent, and productive work results.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required). Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and good attendance. Honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively. Physical fitness and dexterity to handle various labor-intensive tasks (e.g., frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, carrying up to 50 lbs). Willingness to learn, adapt to new technology, and follow new safety practices. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work under supervision. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred).
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Previous experience in construction, facility maintenance, plumbing, or electrical work is an asset but not required. Basic knowledge of hand and power tool operation. Strong safety awareness on job sites. Adaptability to various weather conditions and environments.
Working Conditions:
Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures and environments. Potential for exposure to loud noises, dirt, dust, and inclement weather. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours and districtwide travel as needed.
