Description:
Ranch Creek Excavation a subsidiary of Devils Thumb Ranch Based in Winter Park, Colorado, specializing in high quality site work, excavation, and infrastructure projects throughout the mountain community. We take pride in building safely, efficiently, and with respect for the challenging alpine environment we work in year-round. We are currently seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our field operations team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work on active construction sites, operating heavy equipment, and contributing directly to the success of projects from the ground up. Principle Purpose of Job The Construction Laborer is responsible for performing a wide range of manual landscape and site-finishing tasks on active job sites. This position supports grading, planting, hardscaping, erosion control, irrigation, and general site cleanup activities. Laborers will work closely with foremen and crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to specifications, while maintaining the high standard of finish our mountain projects demand.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform manual landscape labor including grading, soil preparation, planting trees, shrubs, sod, and seeding. Install and maintain hardscape features such as pavers, retaining walls, stone borders, and walkways. Trash control and keeping the job site well maintained and free of debris. Spread mulch, topsoil, gravel, and other materials; perform edging, trimming, and finish work. Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment around the job site. Operate small equipment and hand tools such as skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, mowers, compactors, and power tools (as trained and assigned). Assist with snow removal during winter months, including shoveling, plowing support, and snow-management tasks. Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and direction from supervisors and foremen. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Assist equipment operators with excavation and other dirt work tasks.
Requirements:
1-2 years of landscape, construction, or general labor experience preferred; entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic will be considered. Experience with planting, hardscaping, grading, or site development a plus. Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and procedures. • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50+ lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to learn new skills, equipment, and techniques and expand responsibilities over time. • Ability to work long hours, including early mornings, and adapt to changing site needs. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Reliable transportation and consistent, punctual attendance required. Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred.
