Job Description
1st American Fire Services - Clearwater, Florida Overview 1st American Fire Services is a Florida-owned company specializing in NFPA testing and inspection of fire department equipment, including fire hose, hard suction, pumps, aerial devices, ladders, and nozzles. We are seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join our team as Fire Equipment Testing Technicians. This position involves working outdoors, traveling throughout Florida, and assisting with the testing and handling of fire apparatus equipment at fire departments, military installations, airports, industrial facilities, and other customer locations. No prior experience is required. Paid training is provided. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in hands-on work, travel, and gaining experience working around fire service equipment and apparatus.
Hiring Immediately Pay:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on experience. Responsibilities Assist with unrolling, rolling, and loading fire hose Assist with pulling hose off trucks Assist with testing fire hose, ladders, hard suction, pumps, aerial devices, and other fire apparatus equipment Load, unload, transport, and stack equipment and materials Assist with spotting trucks and trailers Set up and tear down testing equipment and job site trailers Maintain tools, equipment, trailers, and work areas in a clean and organized condition Work effectively with team members to complete daily objectives safely and efficiently Follow company safety procedures and all company policies Report unsafe conditions immediately Follow instructions and seek clarification when expectations are unclear Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and fire department personnel Perform other duties as assigned Travel Requirements Extensive travel throughout the State of Florida Frequent overnight travel required for several days at a time Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required Lodging accommodations and meals are provided during overnight travel assignments Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous labor, construction, industrial, warehouse, landscaping, mechanical, or related experience is helpful but not required Valid driver's license required Access to a personal vehicle is required Employees are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from designated meeting locations, company headquarters, and assigned job sites Ability to pass a criminal background check Ability to pass a drug screening Applicants must be eligible to access customer facilities, fire departments, military installations, airports, industrial sites, and other restricted locations serviced by the company Certain criminal convictions or pending criminal matters may disqualify applicants from employment if they would prevent access to customer facilities, restricted job sites, or otherwise interfere with the essential functions of the position Strong work ethic, dependability, attendance, and punctuality Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to read and understand basic instructions and safety procedures Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division Professional Expectations Attendance is an essential function of this position Employees are expected to report to work on time and prepared for travel assignments Employees must conduct themselves professionally and respectfully when interacting with customers, fire department personnel, military personnel, airport personnel, members of the public, and fellow employees Employees must work cooperatively with team members and contribute to a productive and professional work environment Harassment, discrimination, bullying, threats, intimidation, disruptive behavior, insubordination, or creating a hostile work environment will not be tolerated Employees must comply with all customer site rules, company policies, and safety requirements Excessive absenteeism, tardiness, misconduct, or violation of company policies may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination Physical Requirements This position requires physical work in an outdoor environment.
