Entry-Level Construction Technician

Applicants are encouraged to have some previous construction experience or construction knowledge. Pay will be determined by your skills (more job knowledge/skills = more pay), but we will train you and give you the necessary skills as long as you have a drive to learn and work. As a laborer at Sherer Construction you'll be expected to:

• Be able to drive to the job site daily (locations vary daily all over

Central Iowa:

Ames, Granger, Madrid, Ankeny, Huxley, Jewel, Urbandale, etc.)

• Drive company vehicles (work van, truck, dump truck, etc.)
• Framing (Houses, Garages, Pole Barns, Additions, Decks, Etc)
• Trim work (Hang doors, install base boards and casing)
• Assist with general maintenance person tasks (Painting, drywall repair, and basic plumbing)
• Restore and repair damaged wooden structures
• Help ensure job sites are kept clean, organized and free of hazards
• Use hand tools and power tools to complete carpentry tasks
• Install various types of flooring, such as hardwood and laminate
• Proficient in using hand tools and power tools commonly used in carpentry work
• Strong drive to learn
• Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, tools, lumber, etc.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
