Job Description

COMPANY SUMMARY
The focus of Hodge Western Corp over the last 20 years started in heavy civil and evolved into technology-driven, specialty underground utility construction.
We operate in three divisions:
Renewable Energy, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), and Rock Trenching. Our company works on projects throughout the United States. We are passionate about executing and growing our specialized methods for complex utility construction to provide our partner customers with significant advantages in both safety and efficiency over traditional means and methods.

ASAP JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused Rock Trenching Oiler/Swamper to support daily rock trenching operations. This critical role involves supporting the Trenching Operator with machine readiness, site setup, spotting, fueling, maintenance, inventory, and general support duties to ensure trenching begins on time and is executed safely and efficiently. This position starts at $20-25 per hour and leads to an opportunity to apprentice into a Trenching Operator at $30+ per hour.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review daily plan with Operator and confirm all trenching layout preparations are complete. Check fluid levels and clean key machine areas (tracks, boom, conveyor). Notify Operator of any issues. Spot and assist Operator to ensure trenching is accurate to plan (depth, width, location). Monitor equipment constantly—visually and audibly—for any abnormalities. Maintain a safe and clean work area; identify and address any hazards immediately. Ensure trench path is clear, layout markings remain visible and undisturbed. Manage on-site fuel supply, coordinate deliveries to avoid downtime. Maintain consumables inventory (DEF, oil, grease, etc.); coordinate resupply as needed. Run errands for parts or supplies as directed by leadership. Keep support trucks and equipment clean and organized; remove trash and debris regularly.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in construction or heavy equipment support preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Reliable transportation and punctuality required.
