Job Description

DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Director, Technical Services Division, with respect to cemetery facilities maintenance and repair: Construction, remodeling and repair of cemetery facilities, including carpentry, concrete installation, masonry, electrical, and plumbing. Grading and development of sections, construction of roads, and installation and repair of water and drainage systems. Establishment and care of new lawns, and the installation and care of trees, shrubs, and other landscape materials. Carry out verbal and written orders and prepare written reports as required in relation to assigned duties. Assist in the training of Potential Regular Specialists. Operate and provide routine service for common Technical Services equipment and tools in accordance with operators' manuals. Discharge related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of cemetery construction, field development and facilities maintenance and procedures, including landscaping care and maintenance. Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications on drawings. Ability to use the necessary vehicles, equipment and tools required for the performance of assigned duties, including the use of aerial buckets and lifts. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain a CDL license and medical card within six months of obtaining this position, and maintain and re-certify the CDL license and medical card at established intervals. Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers, work independently and execute assignments promptly. Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written form. Mature judgment, initiative, poise, tact and affability and the ability to represent the Catholic Cemeteries creditably in all public contacts. Ability to work outdoors in potentially inclement weather and adverse ground conditions, including squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 100 lbs. as necessary. Ability to fulfill the five day work week and work the established hours of the position. Practicing Catholic with a Catholic educational background preferred. Minimum high school graduate or GED certificate, with at least three years of training and experience in carpentry, electrical work and plumbing relating to general repairs, remodeling and construction preferred. Must participate in ongoing construction training programs for current information on the latest techniques, methods and procedures. A valid, state-issued Pesticide Operator license or ability to obtain said license within six months of hire preferred.
