Job purpose The Construction Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor on highways and heavy construction projects. This position includes working among one of our established asphalt paving crews, running the back end of a paver, shoveling, raking, asphalt patching, preparation work, and running the bottom grade control on the milling machine. Duties and responsibilities Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects; performs manual work in preparing surfaces for paving. Shoveling and raking asphalt. Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Works closely with paving foreman to maintain yield. Understand paving operations and logistics. Knows and understands grade control methods and proficient with CAT electronics. Works well in a fast-paced environment. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager. Qualifications
