General Laborer

General Laborer / Batch Mixer Overview We are seeking a dedicated General Laborer to join our team at the waste water treatment plant. This position offers a unique schedule of working from 6 AM to 6 PM with a pattern of 2 days on, 2 days off, followed by 3 days on, and 3 days off. The role is entry-level and involves running waste water operations, with tasks being less complex than those in higher-level positions. Responsibilities Assist in operating and monitoring refinery plant equipment and processes according to established procedures and safety protocols. Monitor and maintain process parameters, such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and chemical concentrations, to ensure optimal performance. Follow a schedule to check tanks, take samples to the lab, document work, and add chemicals as needed. Communicate with other plant personnel and management to coordinate activities and ensure safe and efficient operations. Complete documentation, including operating logs, maintenance records, and safety reports. Participate in training and development programs to maintain and improve skills. Essential Skills Ability to stand, lift, bend, and walk for 12-hour shifts. Machine operating experience or mechanical aptitude (e.g., working on cars, construction). Additional Skills & Qualifications Water experience Chemical experience Batch mixing experience Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, mixing, compounding, chemical handling, labelling, and chemical processes. Due to the use of various chemicals, there is a noticeable smell, though it is not excessively strong within the plant. Expect a hands-on and dynamic work setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Chicago, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.47 - $25.47/hr.
