Job Description

Underground Laborer Team or Function Overview:
Hydromax Services is a growing service organization operating across both plumbing and hauling divisions. We are committed to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and building efficient systems that support our field teams. The Underground Laborer plays a vital role in supporting underground utility crews by assisting with excavation, utility installation and repair, site preparation, and maintaining a safe and efficient job site environment. This position is essential to ensuring projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company and safety standards. Position Summary An Underground Laborer plays a key support role for Operators and crew members by assisting with a wide range of hands-on tasks at job sites. This position contributes to utility repairs, site preparation, and the maintenance of a safe, organized, and efficient work environment to support successful project completion. Key Responsibilities Assist crew members in repairing and installing underground utilities Load, unload and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites Use hand tools such as shovels, probes, spades, post hole diggers to dig and expose utilities Identify and safely locate underground utilities for the Operator Follow on-the-job training and instructions to learn underground utility repair processes Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures as directed by the Operator Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment by removing debris and organizing materials Perform additional tasks assigned Physical Demands Regularly required to bend, squat, crouch, reach and lift 50+ pounds Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual labor for extended periods Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain May be required to work in confined spaces and/or near heavy equipment Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including hats, gloves, and safety vests Qualifications & Experience Ability to follow specific directions and work collaboratively with a team Strong work ethic with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks Basic knowledge of utility repair and installation is preferred Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions and work efficiently under supervision Strong awareness of worksite safety and ability to follow safety protocols High school diploma or equivalent preferred 0-1 year experience in utility repair, construction or a related field preferred; on-the-job training available Performance Expectations Always follows all company safety policies and job site procedures. Arrives on time, prepared, and ready to work each day. Assists Operators and crew members with excavation, utility repairs, site preparation, and cleanup. Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Completes assigned tasks efficiently and with attention to quality. Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team. Represents Hydromax Services professionally on all job sites. Requirements Full-time position; standard hours Monday through Friday Must be comfortable managing competing priorities and responding to operational changes in real time Reliable attendance and consistent follow-through on assigned responsibilities Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record
