Job Description

Construction Laborer-Utility Person | Field Operations Schedule 7:30a.m. - 3:30p.m. Hands-on, dependable, and team-oriented-someone who takes pride in physical work and keeping the city running safely and smoothly. What You'll Do You'll support the City's water, sewer, and stormwater operations by performing hands-on construction, maintenance, and equipment work that keeps Fort Wayne's infrastructure operating every day. Key Responsibilities Operate heavy trucks, front-end loaders, and related equipment for utility operations Install, repair, and maintain water and sewer infrastructure such as hydrants, mains, valves, and laterals Perform construction and repair work using hand and power tools, concrete, mortar, and asphalt Complete inspections, pre-trip vehicle checks, and routine equipment maintenance Work closely with City crews, assist with training, and follow all safety requirements What You Bring - Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent Experience in construction, utilities, or outdoor labor preferred Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions Preferred Certifications CDL Class A (or willingness to obtain; learner's permit required)
Certified Competent Person:
