Storm Water Laborer City of New Albany - 4.5 New Albany, IN Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Employee relationship building Full Job Description To perform maintenance of storm water system as directed by foreman. The Laborer position is responsible for the repairing, replacing, and cleaning utilizing department supplied tools. This position will require work around traffic, construction equipment, streams, creeks, residential homes and public structures. Performs preventative maintenance on storm sewer system. Becomes and remains familiar with laying of pipe for drainage systems. Follows directions per project specifications. Uses and maintains hand tools associated with construction activity of storm sewer system (i.e. shovels, rakes, sledgehammer, quickie saws, concrete finishing tools, etc.). Possesses and retains proper license to operate vehicle. Remains available for all emergency situations. Checks equipment before use. Determines when equipment needs to be used. Operates equipment according to safety guidelines. Performs maintenance when it is necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to work as a team member. Display professional appearance, warm demeanor and positive attitude. Be a motivated self-starter. Work independently and to be accurate, efficient and organized. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Work under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment. Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally. Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. WORKING ENVIRONMENT andCONDITIONS
This position requires working in both an internal and external environment. Significant amount of time will be spent working outdoors and in inclimate weather (within reason and safety) to include: hot, humid, cold, rain, ice and snow.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form. A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor. Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned. Familiar with basic OSHA stands and safety practices. Must have an unexpired Motor Vehicle's License and a good driving record. Experience in construction preferred. CDL preferred or must obtain within 6-months of beginning employment.EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
