Job Title:
Construction Laborer - No Travel Job Description The Construction Laborer supports the fabrication of precast concrete wall panels by performing a variety of general construction, carpentry, and concrete tasks under the direction of a crew leader. This role focuses on learning and applying core skills such as setting and stripping forms, handling reinforcing materials, and assisting with concrete placement and finishing while maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment. Responsibilities Work under the direct supervision of a crew leader to learn and perform core precast concrete skills, including setting up and oiling forms, laying mesh, tying reinforcing bars and steel, setting inserts, striking off, stripping forms, and cleaning up. Construct, assemble, and strip forms and molds for precast concrete wall panels according to instructions and drawings. Perform carpentry tasks such as measuring, cutting, and assembling wood and metal forms to specified dimensions. Assist with concrete placement, including pouring, vibrating, finishing, and curing precast concrete products. Install embeds, insulation, rebar, and hardware according to drawings and work instructions. Patch, finish, and detail precast panels to meet quality standards. Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently during daily tasks. Assist with loading, rigging, and moving precast panels as needed to support production and shipping activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Show consistent improvement in skill level and productivity while performing assigned tasks. Take initiative to remain engaged in productive work throughout the workday, either by continuing fabrication tasks or by informing the crew leader of availability for additional assignments. Report to work regularly and on time in accordance with company attendance policies. Demonstrate loyalty to the company and mutual respect for supervisors and teammates, and function as a cooperative team player. Look for ways to improve work processes and contribute to a more efficient operation. Assume responsibility for maintaining plant safety in accordance with the company safety manual and the direction of the Safety Coordinator. Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times. Communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates in English and Spanish to coordinate work and ensure safe operations. Essential Skills Ability to perform general construction labor in a precast concrete environment. Ability to construct, assemble, and strip forms and molds for precast concrete wall panels. Carpentry skills including accurate measuring, cutting, and assembling of wood and metal forms. Ability to assist with concrete placement, vibration, finishing, and curing. Ability to install embeds, insulation, rebar, and hardware according to drawings and work instructions. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic construction equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to read and follow shop drawings, blueprints, and written work instructions. Ability to patch, finish, and detail precast panels to meet quality expectations. Capability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates in both English and Spanish. Willingness and ability to follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Reliability in maintaining regular, on-time attendance. Strong teamwork, respect for others, and willingness to learn under direct supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with general labor in construction or concrete environments. Familiarity with tape measures and accurate measurement practices. Experience using common hand tools, power tools, and basic construction equipment. Ability to assist with rigging, loading, and moving heavy precast panels. Comfort working under direct supervision while progressively increasing independence and skill level. Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a precast concrete facility that includes both indoor and outdoor work areas and is not climate controlled. You will work around concrete forms, precast panels, and related construction equipment in an active production setting. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday on a day shift from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the potential to work later, up to around 5:00 p.m., and to take on voluntary overtime as needed. The role involves physical labor, exposure to varying weather conditions, and regular use of hand tools, power tools, and other construction equipment in a safety-focused environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
