Job Description The Yard Worker/Laborer is responsible for supporting the daily operations of our yard by keeping materials, equipment, vehicles, and work areas organized, clean, and ready for use. This position performs a variety of physical labor and general yard duties, including moving materials, assisting with loading and unloading, maintaining equipment and work areas, and supporting drivers, mechanics, and other team members as needed. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player who is comfortable working outdoors in a physically demanding environment and takes ownership of getting the job done safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform general labor and maintenance duties throughout the yard. Load, unload, move, and organize materials, equipment, containers, and recyclable or waste materials. Keep the yard, work areas, and surrounding property clean, organized, and free of hazards. Assist drivers, mechanics, operators, and other team members with daily operational needs. Help stage vehicles, containers, equipment, and materials for daily operations. Identify and report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, spills, or other potential hazards to management. Assist with basic equipment and vehicle inspections as directed. Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of tools, equipment, containers, and work areas. Operate basic yard equipment and material-handling equipment when trained and authorized. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations. Properly use and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with snow removal, groundskeeping, debris removal, and other seasonal or general labor duties as needed. Work collaboratively with the team to keep yard operations efficient and organized. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications & Requirements Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Strong work ethic and willingness to take direction. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in waste management, recycling, construction, landscaping, warehouse operations, or general labor is a plus. Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, loaders, pallet jacks, or other equipment is preferred but not required. Ability to follow safety procedures and company policies. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Valid driver's license preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
