This position focuses on the construction and general trades portion of commercial elevator modernization projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction, carpentry, drywall, painting, demolition, concrete work, and general building maintenance. This is a hands-on position working in hospitals, office buildings, apartment complexes, parking garages, government facilities, and commercial buildings throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Responsibilities Perform demolition and construction activities associated with elevator modernization projects. Build, modify, and repair elevator machine rooms and hoistway-related structures. Install and repair drywall, framing, plywood backboards, and wall finishes. Patch and paint machine rooms, lobbies, and elevator entrances. Perform hoistway patching and fire stopping. Install pit ladders, safety barriers, and access platforms. Assist with machine room modifications, including wall penetrations and equipment support installations. Install conduit sleeves, backing, blocking, and miscellaneous construction items required for electrical and elevator equipment. Perform concrete patching and minor masonry repairs. Install doors, access panels, louvers, and related building components. Coordinate with electricians, elevator mechanics, HVAC technicians, and fire alarm contractors. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Complete daily reports and document project progress. Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety procedures. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of commercial construction experience. Experience with drywall finishing and painting. Experience with framing and carpentry. Experience operating power tools and construction equipment. Ability to read drawings and construction documents. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Ability to travel to job sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus: Elevator modernization projects Commercial renovations Fire stopping systems Machine room construction Concrete repair Waterproofing Metal framing Welding and fabrication Commercial painting Doors, frames, and hardware installation Physical Requirements Ability to lift 75 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work in elevator pits, machine rooms, and construction environments. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods.
