Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator/Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, water trucks, and other machinery to support various construction projects.
Duties:
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform tasks including digging, paving, building, and other construction-related activities
  • Use machinery for earthmoving and excavation projects
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures at all times
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, particularly with bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, water trucks, etc.
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL
  • A or B) Required
  • Proficiency in operating and maneuvering various types of heavy machinery
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong understanding of construction operations and safety protocols
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions Assists with department projects including but not limited to the building and repairing gravel, dirt and asphalt roads and streets, installing and repairing culverts, cleaning and repairing catch basins and drainage systems, directing traffic.
Performs physical, manual labor using special equipment including hand tools to dig ditches and trenches, patch roadways, and perform public works related tasks around gas pipes, trees, wires, cars, personal property and fellow workers. Required to participate in the Town's ice, snow removal and sanding program. Performs pre-inspections and routine equipment maintenance of department trucks and equipment. Responsible for informing the Public Works Director of any and all hazardous working conditions and condition of equipment and vehicles.
