Full Job Description Construction Technician Location:
Detroit, MI or Lansing, MI - Field-based work required (Reports and administrative tasks can be completed remotely)
Employment Type:
Full-Time Support Quality Roadway Construction As a Construction Technician , you will support the successful delivery of roadway and transportation construction projects through field inspection, documentation, and coordination. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, and project teams to verify that construction activities are completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and applicable requirements. What You'll Do Perform field inspections of roadway construction activities to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable requirements. Document construction activities and project progress, including Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs), field records, quantities, and supporting documentation. Review and verify construction quantities and completed work to support project records and contractor payments. Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and inspection staff to address field conditions, construction issues, and project needs. Support construction quality and compliance by monitoring materials, workmanship, traffic control, and other project requirements. Use construction management and documentation systems, including AASHTOWare and other applicable field reporting tools.
What You Bring Education:
Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience considered.
Experience:
4+ years of roadway construction, construction inspection, or construction engineering experience. Familiarity with MDOT manuals and certifications required.
Certifications & Licenses:
Applicable MDOT construction inspection and materials certifications required based on project assignments. Additional roadway construction and inspection certifications preferred. Strong understanding of roadway construction practices, plans, and specifications. Experience with AASHTOWare and construction documentation systems preferred. Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain authorization to work in the United States. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and level of responsibility.
Pay:
$46,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
