A Construction Helper or Worker works at construction sites and projects. Works as a skilled trades worker such as bricklayer, carpenter, painter, electrician or mason, or operates construction equipment.
Overview Matt Stone Contracting is looking for an experienced, dependable carpenter to join our small construction company in Bemidji, Minnesota. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, works efficiently and is comfortable handling multiple phases of residential and light commercial construction. Our projects include new construction, framing, remodeling, decks, sheds and shops, window and door installation, drywall, siding and finish work. The ideal candidate has solid construction experience, can complete assigned work with limited supervision and understands the importance of doing the job correctly the first time.
Responsibilities:
Perform residential and light commercial carpentry work Frame walls, floors, roofs, decks, sheds and other structures Complete remodeling, window, door, siding, drywall and finish-carpentry projects Accurately measure, lay out, cut and install building materials Read and follow construction plans, measurements and project specifications Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders and construction equipment Identify potential problems and communicate them before they affect the project Maintain a clean, organized and safe jobsite Protect customers' homes and property while completing work Work closely with Matt and other crew members to keep projects moving efficiently Represent Matt Stone Contracting professionally when interacting with customers, subcontractors and suppliers
Qualifications:
At least three years of professional carpentry or construction experience, or equivalent demonstrated experience Strong knowledge of framing and general residential construction Experience in several areas such as remodeling, decks, windows and doors, siding, drywall or finish carpentry Ability to read a tape measure and complete layouts accurately Ability to work independently while also contributing to a small team Dependable, punctual and able to maintain a consistent work schedule Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites in and around the Bemidji area Ability to work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions Ability to repeatedly lift and carry at least 50 pounds and safely perform physical construction work Willingness to follow all company and jobsite safety requirements
