Job Description
The Equipment Operator and Laborer will be a part of the Road and Bridge crew to repair and maintain Saline County's roads and bridges. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a construction setting and will be efficient with using a variety of equipment and tools. Job Overview The Equipment Operator and Laborer will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery, equipment, and tools safely and efficiently on construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction processes, and safety protocols to ensure project success and adherence to industry standards. Responsibilities Safely operate transportation equipment while adhering to all applicable traffic laws. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks with precision and safety. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance. Assist in site preparation, grading, excavation, and material transportation tasks as needed. Follow all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe work environment for all team members. Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and specifications. Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance logs, and operational reports. Monitor performance and adjust settings as required to perform tasks correctly. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Requirements Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, or dump trucks. Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment systems and troubleshooting skills. Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain Class A CDL within 3 months of hire. Strong safety awareness and commitment to following OSHA standards and company safety policies. Physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting heavy loads more than 50 pounds and working in various weather conditions. Pass a pre-employment DOT drug test and subsequent random tests.
