Job Description

Dickerson & Bowen - Paving the way for growth and development since 1947 D&B is a leading provider of aggregates, asphalt and asphalt paving services in central and southern Mississippi. D&B operates four asphalt plants and two active sand and gravel plants and is a natural extension to our recently established Southeast platform, further strengthening our vertically integrated footprint. General Summary The Construction Laborer supports asphalt paving and related construction activities across Dickerson & Bowen project sites. This role performs a wide range of essential tasks, including site preparation, grading, paving support, and assisting with the installation or repair of various structures. Responsibilities also include traffic control/flagging, shoveling, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and setting up or completing stringline layouts. Laborers work closely with equipment operators and crew members to ensure efficient, high‑quality project execution in all field conditions. Essential Job Accountabilities Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel, using pick and shovel. Lifts, carries, and holds materials, tools, and supplies. Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas. Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials, using handtools. Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe. Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, and placing culvert sections in trench. Education High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience Work Experience On the job training required. Requirements and Certifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL class B) Valid tanker endorsement Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Workers should be able to: Follow specific directions Perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure Evaluate information using measurable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction).
