Landscaping Delegation Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Crew Lead is responsible for leading field operations on fencing and landscaping projects while ensuring high-quality workmanship, efficient production, and strong customer communication. This role supervises a small crew (typically 1-2 laborers) and serves as the primary on-site point of contact for both the company and the customer.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution
  • Lead installation of fencing (wood, vinyl, chain link) and landscape/hardscape projects including decks, patios, retaining walls, and irrigation systems
  • Read and interpret plans, layouts, and work orders to execute projects accurately
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to company quality standards
  • Troubleshoot field issues and make adjustments as needed to keep projects moving Crew Leadership
  • Supervise and direct 1-2 laborers on a daily basis
  • Delegate tasks effectively to maximize crew productivity
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety procedures
  • Maintain a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment Customer Communication
  • Act as the primary on-site contact for customers during project execution
  • Communicate project progress, timelines, and any changes clearly and professionally
  • Address customer questions or concerns in a timely manner
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures on all job sites
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Conduct basic site safety checks and hazard awareness Project Documentation & Coordination
  • Track daily progress and report updates to management
  • Communicate material needs, delays, or changes to the office
  • Assist with site preparation, layout, and final walkthroughs
Position Requirements:
  • Experience in fence installation and/or landscaping/hardscaping construction
  • Proven ability to lead a small crew and manage job site operations
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to read basic plans and perform accurate measurements/layouts
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor conditions
