JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:

Landfill Attendant/Street laborer

Department:

Sanitation/streets Responsible to:

Street Superintendent Primary Objective:

This position is responsible for but not limited to the city of Winner Landfill/Streets dept. This individual will be asked to take payment for permitted dumping in the city landfill, maintenance of city owned property, record keeping, daily logbook, load inspections and basic landfill operation.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

Inspecting loads for proper disposal, issuing tickets for payment in accordance with city policy and giving direction for dumping to the public. Keeping dump area and equipment in acceptable working condition. To police all areas for refuse within the dump and dump Road Prohibit anyone from taking things from the Landfill without written permission to do so This position will also include duties assigned by the Street Supt. During non-dump hours. This position will include weekend work This position may include duties related to street dept such as sweeping, hauling, asphalt and concrete maintenance, snow removal, vehicle maintenance and other duties.

Inclement Weather:

When Inclement weather is predicted it will be the responsibility of the employee scheduled for work to make arrangements to be inside city limits. The Public Works Department or Police Department may be able to pick up employees for work within the city limits based on need. It is expected that the employee notifies their supervisor of any changes as soon as possible. Knowledge /

Qualifications Required:

Basic math skills able to figure tickets Possession of a valid driver's license and have or be able to obtain within 1 year of hire a (CDL) issued by the State of South Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Good communication skills.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, able to operate a mower or trimmer. The work is typically performed outdoors. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and occasional inclement weather. Some of the work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.

Type of Supervision/Evaluation Received:

This position will be subject to 6 month probationary period, this position is subject to performance reviews conducted by the streets supervisor.

Salary & Benefits:

This is an hourly position, wages depending on experience. Benefits as defined in the employee manual.

From $23.42 per hour
