Pay for a Parks Laborer (seasonal) begins at $17.44/hr and is based on applicable experience.
Description :
This classification is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks to grounds, equipment, and facilities within Parks and Recreation department. Duties and responsibilities include mowing grass, dragging and prepping athletic fields; planting flowers, shrubs, and trees; performing minor repairs to buildings, facilities, and equipment, and picking up any types litter or other debris on and around Parks and Recreation facilities. Reports to Parks Facility Manager. May require weekends and afternoon/evening hours. May work up to 40 hours per week. The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job. Other duties may be required and assigned. Performs various athletic field preparation functions such as dragging, lining, and field layout. Mows, weed-eats, and other various grounds maintenance which also includes beautification of plants and trees and irrigation repair. Performs minor general construction of park facilities such as pouring concrete, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Participates in the planning, execution, and clean-up of special events such as tournaments holiday activities and other programs. Follows all verbal and written work instructions. Reads labels and safely follow directions of products and machine operation. Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Report any accidents immediately to Park Facility Manager. Correctly wears appropriate personal protective equipment when required. Performs routine maintenance on equipment. Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Park Facility Manager. Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on customer's perception of town facilities. Helps maintain the cleanliness of machines, work area and all park facilities including, but not limited to, public restrooms, picnic shelters, playgrounds, etc. All other duties as assigned by Park Facility Manager. Position will occasionally take lead role during weekends, nights, and some events. Performs Park Security and lock-up will be required. Must be at least 16 years of age Must be able to wear mandatory safety equipment. May require weekends and afternoon/evening hours. May work up to 40 hours per week.
